Our program offers comprehensive pro-stages support to overseas Canadians, Permanent Residents, and approved immigrants who are planning to move back to Canada or send their family members.
We provide assistance to those in the process of moving and settling in Canada, as well as newly landed immigrants, refugees, and those with strong ties to Canada.
Our services include sharing advice and personal experiences, airport pick-up, transportation to appointments, school, work, and shopping as well as pre and post-arrival support. We aim to make the transition back to Canada as smooth as possible for all of our clients.
Assistance will also include mentoring and helping to build connections and networks with people in the community, and providing referral services to service providers in Canada to assist them with settling in Canada. These referrals include service providers who are able to assist them in their language of origin (often Cantonese).
CANHK started these services back in December of 2020. To date we have prepared seventeen 15-minute videos with different professionals/experts who share stories about their settlement process, their employment/business experience in Canada, and how they built their network in Canada.
These videos are used as part of the organization’s mentoring and referral services.
We plan to hire one full-time coordinator in British Columbia to handle all coordinating and following up service, and to coordinate and supervise the volunteers who will be doing support work.
Beneficiaries will find information about the organization’s services from the organization’s social media sources and by word of mouth. We will provide services to all those in need, but will prioritize Canadian, Canadian Permanent Residents, international students and workers in Canada, prospective immigrants, and beneficiaries with strong ties with Canada, and will try to also accommodate other beneficiaries who have an interest to immigrate, study and/or work in Canada.
In addition, priority will be given to those candidates suffering hardships due to political, finance and/or family issues.
Assistance will be provided in Canada in the areas where the highest need is anticipated in British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta, and will be provided by both paid staff of the organization and by volunteers. Beneficiaries will be encouraged to volunteer with the organization to assist others when they are settled and able to do so.
